The mirror moment

You Saw It in the Mirror Before Anyone Said a Word

It usually happens on an ordinary morning.

You are standing under the bathroom light. You lean in to do your brows and realize the outer tails are simply not there anymore. You pull your hair into a ponytail and the ponytail feels like a different ponytail. You touch your cheek and it looks fuller than it did last spring, and you have not changed a single thing about how you eat.

You put on the moisturizer that cost too much. Ten minutes later, the dry patch is right where it was.

A bathroom counter in morning light: a hairbrush with shed hair, a brow pencil, a jar of moisturizer, concealer and a hand mirror lying face down

Then you look at the photo someone tagged you in and you think, quietly, so nobody hears it: That does not look like me.

If you have had that thought, this letter is for you. Not because we are going to tell you that a capsule is the answer to everything. It is not. We are going to walk you through what published research actually says about how the thyroid shows up in your skin, your hair and your face. Then we are going to tell you what a thyroid uses, why it is hard to get all of it in one place, and what we built about it.

Some of what you read will be uncomfortable. Some of it will feel like a relief. Both are fine.

In women's words

“It’s Not in Your Head.” In Women’s Own Words

Women describe this in different words. The shape of it is often similar.

  • I’m not lazy. I sleep eight hours and I wake up tired.

  • My hair is coming out in handfuls and my doctor says it’s stress.

  • My face looks puffy and I barely eat.

  • I have done everything right and my labs are ‘fine.’

  • Nobody sees it but me. And my mirror.

These are paraphrases of themes we found again and again while researching this letter, in women’s own words in public health communities. They are not customer testimonials, and we are not presenting them as such. We share them for one reason. If you recognize yourself, you are not alone in it.

Here is what usually comes next. You do the responsible thing. You book the appointment. Someone draws blood. A few days later you get a portal message, or a smile and a handshake: Your levels look normal.

And you feel two things at once. Relief, because nothing scary showed up. And a strange, private grief, because you still feel like a photocopy of yourself, and now the one person you asked has told you that you are fine.

So you try the next thing. A new shampoo. A serum. A collagen powder. A cleanse. A stricter diet. A harder workout. A brow gel. A concealer for the under-eyes.

Some of it helps a little. None of it explains why.

That is the whole reason this page exists. Not to diagnose you. To make sure you have the question.

The usual advice

Why the Usual Advice Keeps Missing It

Let us be fair to everyone involved, because most of the people you have seen were trying to help.

  1. A standard thyroid screen is a good first step. It is a narrow one.

Most routine checks look at one number, usually TSH. That number is a useful signal for your clinician. It is not a picture of how you feel, how your skin behaves, how your hair cycles or how your face holds fluid. “Within range” means within a statistical range. It does not always mean “nothing to see here.”

  2. Range is not the same as you.

A range is built from a population. You are a person. Some women feel their best in one part of a range and worse in another. That is a conversation to have with a clinician who will listen, and we will say more about it below.

  3. The mirror symptoms get filed under “cosmetic.”

Thinning brows, dry skin, puffiness and shedding are treated as vanity problems and sent to the pharmacy aisle. But dermatology research describes these as recognized skin and hair findings in thyroid disease. We will show you the numbers in a minute.

  4. Everything overlaps.

Perimenopause, stress, iron levels, poor sleep, and yes, thyroid, can all look alike from the outside. This is honestly hard, and it is why no honest company can tell you that a bottle is the explanation for how you look and feel. Iron and vitamin D matter for hair. B12 matters for energy. Sleep matters for everything.

So here is the position we take, and we take it on purpose:

ThyraGlow lives in that last sentence. It is a daily nutritional support for women. It is not a test, a diagnosis, a treatment or a substitute for the care above.

You do not need a special vocabulary. You need a written list and permission to ask. A good clinician will be glad you came prepared. If yours is not, that is information too.

The system

Your Thyroid Is Not One Thing. It Is a System With Four Working Parts.

Most of us were taught that the thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland in the neck that makes a hormone. That is true, and it is about a quarter of the story. The way we find it useful to think about it is as a four-part system. If any part is short of what it needs, the whole chain feels it.

  1. 1

    The gland

The thyroid gland takes iodine from what you eat and combines it with an amino acid called tyrosine to build thyroid hormone. It mostly makes T4, a storage form. Iodine is not optional here. It is a raw material. The American Thyroid Association publishes general patient information on iodine and thyroid function, and it is one of the best-known facts in all of endocrinology.7

    Where a nutritional formula speaks
  2. 2

    The conversion

T4 is the storage form. Your body has to convert it into T3, the active form that your cells actually use. That conversion depends on enzymes that need certain minerals to work. Selenium and zinc are the best-known examples.6 This is why, in the research on trace elements and the thyroid, minerals turn up again and again. They are not glamorous. They are the workers on the line.6, 10

    Where a nutritional formula speaks
  3. 3

    The cell receptors

Hormone is only useful if a cell can receive it. Thyroid hormone receptors are found in many tissues, including skin and hair follicles.2 Think of them as charging ports. That matters for this letter, because those two tissues are exactly where your mirror is looking.

  4. 4

    The immune balance

In many women, thyroid trouble is autoimmune, meaning the immune system is involved. This is squarely medical territory. It is a job for your clinician and, often, an endocrinologist. We include it for completeness, and to be plain about it: ThyraGlow is not an immune treatment and we make no claim that it acts on autoimmune thyroid disease.

    Clinician territory

So which parts does a nutritional formula speak to? Honestly, mainly parts 1 and 2. The raw materials (iodine, tyrosine) and the minerals the conversion depends on (selenium, zinc, copper, magnesium, manganese). Everything you will read below about ThyraGlow lives in that lane.

A thyroid formula can only offer the raw materials. Your body, your clinician and time do the rest.

The mirror

Why Your Mirror Notices First

Here is where it gets interesting.

Skin and hair are among the most active tissues in your body. A hair follicle is a small, fast-cycling factory. Skin renews itself continuously. Both are rich in thyroid hormone receptors.2 When the thyroid system is under-supplied or out of balance, tissues that turn over quickly can show it early. That is a plain-language summary of what dermatology reviews describe. It is not a claim about you.

The places a thyroid shows upLine drawing of a woman's face marked with six places the research describes: hair, outer eyebrows, under-eyes, face, skin and nails. 123456
  1. Hairdiffuse shedding
  2. Browsouter third
  3. Under-eyestired-looking
  4. Facepuffiness
  5. Skindryness
  6. Nailsfragility
The places a thyroid shows up.

Here is what the published literature actually documents.

A clinical series of 460 people with an underactive thyroid

(Keen et al., Indian Journal of Dermatology, 2013) recorded these skin findings:4

  • Dry skin (xerosis)57%
  • Diffuse hair loss46%
  • Coarse scalp hair29%
  • Facial puffiness29%

Two important honesty notes. These were people who had a diagnosed underactive thyroid, not the general population. And the study describes what was observed. It does not say a supplement changes it.

The details

  • Outer-third eyebrow loss is described in the dermatology literature as a classic sign clinicians look for in thyroid disease, and the same reviews describe it as neither exclusive to thyroid nor always present.2, 3, 5 In other words: thinning outer brows are a reason to ask a question, not an answer.

  • Facial and eyelid puffiness has a mechanism the literature describes: in an underactive thyroid, a gel-like substance can accumulate in the skin and hold fluid, which produces a puffy, doughy look that is not the same as weight gain.2, 3 It is one reason “I barely eat and my face is round” is a real experience and not a character flaw.

  • Nails belong here too. In a systematic review of nail changes in underactive thyroid, fragility, slow growth and thinning were commonly reported.3

  • Under-eyes deserve a careful sentence. Puffy lids and tired-looking eyes are part of the facial picture the literature describes.3 But dark circles also follow iron deficiency, allergies and sleep. We will not pretend one cause explains them. Get your ferritin checked.

This is also why so many of the things that promise to help your hair and skin can feel like paying for a stronger paint over a crack in the wall. A shampoo works on the strand. A serum works on the surface. Neither is built to speak to the tissue’s own supply lines. That does not make them useless, and you should keep using what you like. It just means that if nothing on your counter has ever quite worked, it may be worth looking upstream as well as at the surface. That is not a claim that any one thing is the cause. It is a reason to ask.

One woman’s story

What One Woman Noticed

This part is written in the first person by Linda Martinez, one of the women behind ThyraGlow. It is her experience. It is not typical, and it is not a promise of anything.

I am going to tell you about the worst stretch of my adult life, and I am going to keep it plain.

I am 48. For about six years, I felt like a ghost in my own life. Relentless tiredness. Weight that crept on. Words that disappeared mid-sentence. I would stand in the kitchen and forget why I had walked in. My mood swung. I snapped at my kids and pulled away from my husband and cried in the shower for reasons I could not name.

I was in perimenopause, and I started to believe the best version of me was behind me.

I did what I was told. Low-carb. Hormone panels. Green smoothies. Stress journaling. My husband drove me to more than a dozen appointments over the years. He listened, he nodded, he supported me. Even he could not see how bad it had gotten.

Three different doctors ran bloodwork. Each time: “Your levels look normal.” A smile. A handshake. “Maybe try managing your stress.”

I want to be fair to them. I am not going to tell you my doctors were wrong or careless. I am telling you what it felt like: like I was being told I was fine by people looking at one number, while I was living in the rest of my body.

Then one night at 2:14 a.m. I had nine browser tabs open, like a hundred nights before. I found the review paper I mentioned earlier, about how thyroid problems in women are so often mistaken for depression, menopause or stress.1 I read it four times.

Illustration of a woman in her late forties at a kitchen table with a cup of tea and an open notebook, looking toward a sunrise window
Illustrative image. Not a photo of Linda or of any customer.

It did not tell me I had a thyroid problem. It told me my question was a reasonable one.

So I stopped asking “what is wrong with me” and started asking “what does a thyroid actually run on?” I read everything I could find on iodine, on selenium, on zinc, on the trace elements. I brought what I found to my healthcare provider and kept working with them. And I started taking a nutrient formula built around those raw materials.

I did not expect miracles. I wanted to feel human again.

Here is what I noticed, in the order I noticed it. This is my experience only.

Within a few days, I noticed steadier energy. Not jittery. More like someone had plugged me back in. I woke without dread. My head felt clearer. My skin stopped flaking. I could remember where I put my phone.

By week two, I had lost 3 pounds. By the end of the first month, I was down 8, and I was not trying. Over the months that followed, my hair grew back thicker, my lashes grew, and my confidence came back. I have lost about 30 pounds in total. I know how that sounds, and I know it is not what most people will see. It is what happened to me.

One day I dropped my daughter at school and ran into an old friend. She stopped mid-sentence. “Wow, you look amazing.” Before I could answer, my daughter said, “She really does.”

I nearly cried in that parking lot. When you have felt invisible for years, being seen is like being handed back a piece of yourself.

I am not telling you this to say a supplement rescued me. I did a lot of things. I kept working with my healthcare provider. I changed how I ate and how I slept. I gave it time. What I can say is that I finally stopped ignoring the question I had been asked to stop asking, and that when I looked at what I put in my body, one of the biggest changes I made was giving it what it uses.

That is the honest version. The mirror noticed. I did too.

“It did not tell me I had a thyroid problem. It told me my question was a reasonable one.”

The raw materials

What Nature Offers a Thyroid: Two Sea Vegetables and Five Minerals

If a thyroid runs on raw materials, the obvious question is: what raw materials, and from where? Here is what we looked at.

Flat-lay on pale linen: dried kelp, bladderwrack fronds, capsules, a cayenne pepper, schisandra berries and ashwagandha root
The raw materials.

Kelp: the iodine source

Kelp is a brown seaweed and one of the most iodine-rich foods there is. Your thyroid needs iodine to make its hormones. That is not a marketing line, it is basic physiology.7

Now, the honest part. Iodine is a nutrient where “more” is not always “better.” Studies have looked at iodine and kelp supplementation and thyroid function in healthy adults, and the findings show that thyroid function responds to iodine intake in both directions.8, 9 That is exactly why we say to talk with your healthcare provider before using ThyraGlow if you have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication. We mean it. It is not boilerplate.

Bladderwrack: kelp’s partner

Bladderwrack is another brown seaweed, traditionally used in seaweed-based nutrition, and it also contributes iodine. There is limited research on it. One small published case report followed three premenopausal women and looked at bladderwrack and their hormonal status.11 It was three women. We mention it because it is the kind of thing worth knowing exists, and because it is far too small to prove anything.

Five minerals a thyroid works with

The trace-element literature keeps returning to the same names. In ThyraGlow they are:

  1. Selenium

A trace mineral your body uses in the enzymes involved in converting T4 to T3.6

  2. Zinc

Involved in thyroid hormone metabolism and one of the minerals discussed in trace-element research on thyroid function.6, 10

  3. Copper

A trace element studied alongside zinc and selenium in how minerals interact with thyroid function.10

  4. Magnesium

Involved in hundreds of enzyme reactions, including those tied to energy production.

  5. Manganese

A trace mineral involved in metabolism and normal nervous system function.

One of the findings we found most useful in the research is not about any single mineral. It is that trace elements interact with each other.10 Too little of one, or too much of another, can matter. That is a good argument for a formula built by someone who knows the interactions rather than five separate bottles bought at random.

Six supporting nutrients

Around that core, ThyraGlow adds six more:

  • L-Tyrosine

The amino acid your thyroid combines with iodine to build its hormones.

  • Ashwagandha

A traditional adaptogenic herb, used for centuries for general wellbeing and stress resilience.

  • Vitamin B12

A vitamin involved in normal energy metabolism.

  • Cayenne extract

A traditional botanical, included as a circulation-supporting ingredient.

  • Schisandra

A berry traditionally used in herbal wellness.

  • Molybdenum

A trace mineral your body uses in normal nutrient metabolism.

All of this is described as nutritional support. Exact amounts are on the Supplement Facts panel on every bottle.

The formula

Why We Built ONE Formula, and Why It Is Made for Women

When Linda started, she did what a lot of us would do. She bought a bottle of kelp. Then a selenium. Then a zinc. Then a magnesium. Then a “thyroid blend” that had one of the five in it and a proprietary something. Her cupboard looked like a small pharmacy and nothing on it was designed to work with the others.

That is a real problem. Trace minerals interact.10 Doses matter, ratios matter, and a bottle built by a marketer around a single hero ingredient is not the same as a formula built around a system.

So Linda teamed up with Cody Bramlett, founder of Science Natural Supplements, and worked with his lab’s lead formulator for months on one goal: put the raw materials a thyroid uses, in one formula, in one daily serving, built for the reality of a woman’s life.

Why “for women”?

We did not start with the pink bottle. We started with a pattern in the research.

Thyroid problems are far more common in women than in men. That is well established. And the timing matters. The thyroid does not sit alone. It sits in the middle of a set of systems, including your sex hormones and your stress response, that research suggests interact. Frank-Raue and Raue, in their 2023 review of thyroid dysfunction in peri- and postmenopausal women, describe thyroid trouble becoming more common at exactly the life stage when estrogen is shifting.1

Here is a way to hold it.

  • Estrogen

Research suggests estrogen and thyroid function interact.1 Life stages when estrogen changes (postpartum, perimenopause, menopause) are stages when many women first start asking about their thyroid.

  • Cortisol

Your stress hormone. Research suggests the stress response and the thyroid influence each other.

  • Testosterone

We tend to think of it as a men’s hormone. Women make and use it too. Research suggests it also interacts with the thyroid.

We are not claiming ThyraGlow changes any of those hormones. It does not. We are saying something more modest and, we think, more useful: a woman’s thyroid lives in a busier neighborhood than a man’s, and a formula for women should be designed by people who remember that.

A ThyraGlow bottle in three-quarter view with kelp, bladderwrack fronds and capsules on a soft blush surface

We call the combination the ThyraGlow Matrix, because the point of it is that it works as a set, not as a list.

“Why not just buy the ingredients one at a time?”

You can. Some women do, and it is a reasonable question. Here is the honest comparison.

  • Buying separately gives you control.

You choose every dose. If you and your clinician want a specific amount of one mineral, single-ingredient products are the right tool.

  • Buying separately also gives you homework.

Five or six bottles. Different serving sizes, different times of day, different labels to read. It is easy to lose track after a few weeks, and consistency is the whole game with a nutrient routine.

  • Minerals do not live in isolation.

The research on trace elements says they interact, and that both too little and too much of one can matter.10 A formula is one person’s attempt to balance that on your behalf. It is not magic, and it is not right for everyone. It is convenient, and it is built around a single idea.

So if you want to build your own, please do, with your clinician. If you would rather take two capsules with breakfast and get on with your day, that is what ThyraGlow is for.

Read this first

Who ThyraGlow Is For, and Who Should Talk to a Clinician First

That is not fine print. It is the most important box on this page. If a company will not tell you who should not take its product, do not buy from that company.

The clock

What to Expect, Honestly

We will not promise you a date. We would rather give you a clock, and be honest that it is not the same for everyone.

  1. In the first days to weeks

Some people may notice steadier energy, a calmer mood or a clearer head fairly early. Linda did. Others notice nothing at first. Both are normal. Do not judge it by week one.

  2. Around one to two months

This is when many people start to notice the quieter changes, like how they feel by mid-afternoon, or whether the fog is thinner. Skin tends to be an earlier reporter than hair, because skin renews itself in weeks.

  3. Three months and beyond

Hair and nails run on their own slow calendar. A hair follicle cycles through growing, resting and shedding phases that play out over months. Nails grow out at a fixed, patient pace. Dermatology reviews say the same about the effect of correcting an underlying thyroid problem medically: skin and puffiness tend to respond over weeks, hair and nails over months, and not every change is fully reversible.2, 3 That is the clock biology sets for anything that touches those tissues, so it is the honest clock for your expectations too.

That is why we ask you to think of a bottle as a 30-day serving of raw materials and a fair test as 90 days. Not because we want you to buy more. Because it would be dishonest to tell you that a follicle can be hurried.

A morning routine still life: coffee, a glass of water, toast and berries, a notebook and the ThyraGlow bottle by the window

A simple daily routine

Take two capsules with food, once a day, with a full glass of water. Breakfast works well because it is the meal you are least likely to skip. Put the bottle next to the coffee maker or your toothbrush, wherever you already stop every morning. A routine you will actually keep beats a perfect one you will not.

If you forget a day, do not double up. Just take your next serving as usual. If you take any prescription medication, ask your clinician whether the timing matters, and follow what they say.

Individual results vary. Some women notice a lot. Some notice a little. Some notice nothing, and that is exactly why the guarantee below runs for a full 180 days.

The supply

Choose Your ThyraGlow Supply

Every bottle is 60 capsules. Take two a day with food, and a bottle lasts 30 days. This is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no auto-billing and no membership.

Because a fair test is 90 days, here is how the three options compare. All savings below are measured against the 2-bottle price you can see in the first box, so you can check the math yourself.

  • 2 bottles ($69 each): 60-day supply.

$138, plus $9.97 shipping and handling. About $2.47 a day including shipping. A good way to start if you would like to see how you feel before going longer.

  • 3 bottles ($59 each): 90-day supply.

$177, with free shipping. That is $30 less than three bottles at the 2-bottle price. About $1.97 a day. This covers the full 90-day fair test.

  • Best Value

6 bottles ($49 each): 180-day supply, Best Value.

$294, with free shipping. That is $120 less than six bottles at the 2-bottle price. About $1.63 a day. Hair and nails grow slowly, so give any routine at least 90 days before you judge it; six bottles also means you will not have to think about re-ordering for six months.

Questions

Questions We Get Asked

How do I take ThyraGlow?

Two capsules a day, ideally with food. That is it. There is no special timing, no cycling and no complicated routine. If you forget a day, take your next dose as usual and do not double up.

When will I notice a difference?

It varies. Some women notice steadier energy, mood or focus within days to weeks. Skin often follows on the scale of a few weeks. Hair and nails run on a slower, months-long calendar. We suggest giving it a fair 90 days. Some women will notice more, some less, and some nothing at all. That is why the guarantee is 180 days.

Do I have to take it forever?

No. ThyraGlow is a daily nutritional supplement, like a multivitamin. You take it for as long as it makes sense for you, and you can stop any time. There is no contract, and nothing about it is habit-forming. Talk with your healthcare provider about how long is right for you.

Is it safe to take with thyroid medication?

Please talk with your healthcare provider before you start. ThyraGlow contains kelp and bladderwrack, which are natural sources of iodine, along with other nutrients. Iodine intake can affect thyroid function, and your clinician needs to know everything you take. Do not stop or change your medication because of this page, and do not take ThyraGlow at the same time as a medication without your clinician’s guidance.

Does ThyraGlow treat or cure a thyroid condition?

No. It is a dietary supplement intended to provide nutritional support. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you have symptoms that worry you, see your clinician.

What if it does not work for me?

Then send it back. You have 180 days, and empty bottles are fine. We will refund the product price. Shipping and handling are not refunded.

Will I be enrolled in a subscription or auto-billed?

No. This is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no automatic rebilling.

Where is it made?

In the USA, in a GMP-certified facility.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

ThyraGlow is non-GMO, soy-free, dairy-free and gluten-free. The capsule is vegetarian. There are no artificial colors or preservatives. It contains kelp and bladderwrack (seaweed), so if you have a seafood or iodine sensitivity, talk with your clinician first.

Which option should I choose?

If you want to try it before committing, start with 2 bottles. If you want to give it the full 90-day fair test, 3 bottles covers it. If you would like to run two full 90-day cycles and pay the lowest price per bottle, 6 bottles is the best value, with free shipping. All three are covered by the same 180-day guarantee.

The close

Back to That Bathroom Mirror

Remember where we started? Bathroom light. A ponytail that felt different. Brows that were not where you left them. A photo that did not look like you.

Nothing in this letter changes what you saw. What we hope it changes is the story you have been telling yourself about it.

You are not lazy. You are not vain. You are not imagining it. Skin, hair, brows, nails and the shape of your face are things researchers have documented in relation to the thyroid for decades. A “normal” number on one test is a good start, and it is not the last word on how you feel. And you are allowed to ask better questions.

Here is the plan we would suggest, in this order:

  1. See your clinician. Ask for a full workup: thyroid labs, ferritin, vitamin D and B12. Bring this page if it helps.
  2. Keep taking any medication exactly as prescribed. Do not change anything without their guidance.
  3. Decide whether a daily thyroid-nutrient foundation belongs in your routine. If it does, try ThyraGlow for a fair 90 days.
  4. Track what you notice, kindly and honestly, once a month.
  5. If it is not for you, send it back. You have 180 days.

There is no ticking clock on this page and we are not going to tell you we are about to run out. There is only one honest reason to start today rather than next month, and it is a quiet one: a fair test takes 90 days, and it starts the day you begin.

The next time you stand under that bathroom light, we would like you to be well into the answer.

With care,

Linda Martinez and Cody Bramlett

P.S. If you take one thing from this whole letter, take this: a “normal” lab result and how you feel can both be true at the same time, and neither one makes you a liar. Ask the question. Talk with your clinician. And if you decide to try ThyraGlow, do it with the 180-day guarantee behind you.

P.P.S. Nothing here replaces medical care. If you take thyroid medication, have a thyroid condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are sensitive to iodine, please talk to your healthcare provider before you take ThyraGlow.
